Papier-mâché installation, Performance Art, 106 inches x 73 inches x 31 inches.
The contrast between the human body and nature intrigues me. The sculpture not only evokes the security of a womb, but, given the exposed upper and open ends of the papier-mâché tubes, also conveys the inevitability of risks. Almost mimicking an umbilical cord, the tubelike structures highlight the detachment necessary to become an individual.

Growth
Mixed medium: Papier-mâché Sculpture, rope and tree branches, 50 inches x 40 inches.
We must move on from the past in order to embrace the new. The dried up branches tied to stronger cores made out of newspaper clippings express how my own doings shape my future as I obtain new knowledge and extend my horizons.

Chaos
Oil on Canvas, 24 inches x 32 inches.
As we try to contain our emotions and present only the best aspects of ourselves to the public eye, little fragments slowly accumulate into a cluster of chaos. The coils of rattan escaping from the box mirrors the release of the burden of inner turmoil.

Explosion
Acrylic on Canvas, 27 inches x 39 inches.
Bottled up emotions accumulate and eventually become uncontainable. Pollock’s drip painting technique (modified) helps convey the moment before one experiences the satisfaction of emotional release.

Lunacy Oil on Canvas, 36 inches x 48 inches.
As our impurities start to consume us, the persona that we present to the world begins to crack. The stark contrast between the dark skin and the white of the background and scars left behind by emotional struggle explore the strain of expectations regarding beauty

Contamination
Oil on Canvas, 28 inches x 40 inches. Slabs of raw meat have been contaminated, with worm like substances taking over, representing how darker side of our inner beings come to life.
Decay
Acrylic on Foam, 26 inches x 26 inches. The segment of decaying raw meat represented in this sculpture mirrors the way I imagine emotions permeate our minds.

Overflow
Oil on Canvas, 20 inches x 36 inches.
Although this image stems from my recent fascination with meat, the barbaric image of hands pulling open a wound-like hole communicates more symbolic ideas about femininity and power.

Laundry
Installation
Merging the ideas of exposure from clothing lines along with the idea of consumerism from the meat markets, the hanging clothes disguised as meat reveal tensions between our true personalities and the facade we present to the outside world and how that causes us to conform to social norms and act as a product to society.

Figure
Bamboo Cane Sculpture, 30 inches x 63 inches x 31 inches. Each color represents three women’s responses to the question: “Which sort of woman do you aspire to be?” Women who picked their “mother” were assigned navy, women who chose “a supermodel” were assigned orange, women who selected “an actress” were assigned light blue and “other” responses were given white.

The Unseen
Oil on Canvas, 48 inches x 59 inches.
Hong Kong’s dazzling skyline often obscures its growing wealth gap; this painting explores that phenomenon.

The Fourth Dimension

Support
Acrylic on Canvas, 30 inches x 40 inches.
The drip paint technique effectively conveys the beauty of age I see in my grandmother’s hands. Just as the cane supports her physically, she has supported me as I grow and change.
